The detention of Ricardo G. S., alias 'El Ricky' or 'Mando R', presumed leader of the Northeast Cartel (CDN), in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, has caused shootouts, chases, and blockades in the area, as well as the closure of the city's International Airport. The capture took place around 07:45 in the 150 Aniversario neighborhood, and the detainee was transferred to Mexico City to be made available to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime.
The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, explained that Federal Forces carried out the detention of Ricardo 'N', leader of a violent group operating in Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, and Coahuila, who is linked to extortion and attacks on police officers. The operation involved agents from the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General's Office (FGR), the National Guard (GN), and the SSPC. According to García Harfuch, in August 2024, the detainee coordinated criminal cells that attacked military personnel in Nuevo Laredo, leaving five agents injured and two dead, and has arrest warrants for homicide and illegal deprivation of liberty. Additionally, he is attributed with the murder of six agents from the Civil Force of Nuevo León in 2022.
